Business loan vs revenue-based financing in the UAE
A term loan costs less per dirham but asks for history and collateral; revenue-based financing underwrites your sales and repays as a percentage of revenue. Which one fits depends on your numbers, not the label.

UAE founders comparing financing hit two structurally different products and compare them on the wrong axis — headline cost. A term loan and revenue-based financing price different things: one prices your creditworthiness over time, the other prices your sales data right now.
Term loans and bank facilities
A bank term loan or overdraft is the cheapest capital per dirham — but eligibility is the gate. UAE banks typically want 1–2 years of audited trading history, sometimes collateral or personal guarantees, and weeks of credit review. For an established company with clean financials it is almost always the lower-cost option.
Revenue-based and alternative financing
RBF providers advance a lump sum repaid as a fixed percentage of revenue until a cap is met. Underwriting reads your gateway settlement, marketplace or invoice data — not audited accounts — so approval takes days and works for companies banks decline. The effective cost is higher and hidden in a "factor rate"; slow months stretch repayment, strong months finish it faster.
When each one wins
- Established trading company, 2+ years, predictable need: bank loan or overdraft — lower total cost.
- E-commerce or subscription business needing inventory/ad spend capital now: RBF — speed and no collateral outweigh the higher fee.
- B2B services with long invoice terms: invoice financing is usually the better-matched third option — the advance maps to real receivables, not projected sales.
- Very early stage, no revenue yet: neither — that gap is equity or founder money, not debt.
The honest answer
Compare on effective cost against your own revenue curve, not the quoted rate: a "cheap" loan you cannot qualify for costs more than a "expensive" advance that funds the inventory cycle you actually have. The UAE financing page lists the providers in each bucket.
